Science Week Assembly

13th Nov 2024

We celebrated Science Week this week in Carbury School. As part of Science Week we had a special whole school assembly on Wednesday morning. We welcomed our guest speaker James, an Archaeological Scientist! He spoke about his work and all the aspects of science it involves. Archaeological Scientists do a lot more than just digging!

James’ job involves working with a lot of different sciences. He uses geophysics, electricity, magnetism and technologies such as drones and magnetometers. James explained and showed us how the different sciences are used to help find out what life was like and how people lived long ago. He also showed us some amazing digital 3D models he created of the Sligo Abbey which is right on our doorstep here in Sligo town.

All pupils really enjoyed our assembly and asking James about his work. We may have some future scientists here in Carbury School!
