The children in 5th class had great fun celebrating Maths Week. At the beginning of the week they attended a maths talk in the ATU Sligo. The talk was delivered by Dr. Fernando Blasco, a mathematician and lecturer from Spain. He used magic to introduce the children to math topics such as number systems, quick calculation and calendars. The demonstrations were very impressive and enjoyed by all.
Later in the week the children had a visit from the RoboThink team and they had the opportunity to work with their exclusive robotics kit. The children used their problem-solving and critical thinking skills to help build their very own robots which could draw a perfect circle, WOW!
Finally, the children took part in exciting collaborative problem-solving activities as they worked with IZAK9 Cubes. They worked in groups to solve different numeracy problems provided by the interactive characters Abacus and Helix.
