Into the Woods We Go
Habitat Study
Martina Butler facilitated First, Third and Sixth Classes as we learned about the flora and fauna in Doorly Park. She began by meeting each group in their classroom and prepared us for the practical element which was to follow. During our trip we were provided with Tree Identification sheets which enabled us to readily recognise sycamore, rowan and hawthorn. By drawing the outline of the leaves we had a record of our findings. We discussed seasonal change and the more senior classes learned about photosynthesis. The bug hunt proved popular with juniors and seniors alike and we now recognise these mini beasts as Nature’s Recyclers. Thankfully the weather remained favourable and we realise how fortunate we are that Carbury is so close to such a wonderful amenity.
