‘Climb the Heights’ skipping challenge
This month in Carbury, the students will be completing the ‘Climb the Heights’ skipping challenge. This initiative encourages students to be active and to work together to scale some of the highest peaks in Europe. One skip= 1 metre. If the students don’t have skipping ropes at home, they can do jumping jacks instead. 1 jumping jack = 1 metre.
Active Homework will be based on the skipping challenge for this month and will be set every Thursday. The Active Committee has created a video explaining the challenge and demonstrating the skips/jumping jacks for the students.
The students will also complete ‘jumping jack’ movement breaks during class time to try and gain as many metres as they can. Each class will be allocated a slot for using the skipping ropes at school where they will get active and skip on the yard.
Third class students will be responsible for totalling the number of jumps and will report the progress to the classes. The ‘Climb the Heights’ poster is displayed in each classroom to monitor the students’ progress and to keep track of the mountains as we complete them. The aim is to complete Mont Blanc which is 4810m tall!
