Comprehension Strategies to make a difference

This whole school approach to the teaching of comprehension is being introduced throughout the school.  The aim of this programme is to enable children to become self-regulated strategic readers and identifies eight key comprehension strategies, namely prediction, visualisation, making connections, questioning, clarifying, determining importance, inferring and synthesising.  Each strategy is explicitly modelled and taught using high quality fiction and non-fiction picture books.
